It\u2019s a crucial part of the Swedish social security system, offering financial stability during your sick leave. The pay is a benefit calculated as a percentage of your income, based on your sickness benefit qualifying income (SGI). To qualify for it, your ability to work must be reduced by at least 25% due to illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-can-receive-sick-pay\">Who can receive sick pay?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may be eligible if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You&#8217;re employed<\/strong>&nbsp;and unable to work due to illness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>You&#8217;re self-employed<\/strong>&nbsp;and have an established sickness benefit qualifying <a href=\"https:\/\/kliently.se\/en\/news\/all-the-important-dates-to-remember-regarding-your-tax-return\/\">income<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>You&#8217;re unemployed<\/strong>&nbsp;and unable to work due to illness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s essential to report your illness to your employer and apply for sick pay through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forsakringskassan.se\/english\/sick\/employee\/sickness-benefit\">Social Insurance Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-much-can-you-receive\">How much can you receive?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount of pay is determined by your SGI. For the first&nbsp;364 days of your sick leave, you receive&nbsp;80%&nbsp;of your SGI. After that, if you&#8217;re still on sick leave, you&#8217;ll receive continued sick pay which is 75%&nbsp;of your SGI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-apply\">How to apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Report your illness<\/strong><br>Notify your employer and the Social Insurance Agency of your illness as soon as possible, ideally on the first day of illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submit a doctor\u2019s certificate<\/strong><br>From the&nbsp;eighth day&nbsp;of illness, you\u2019ll need to provide a medical certificate confirming your inability to work. Submit this to the Social Insurance Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apply for sick pay<\/strong><br>Complete your application online at the Social Insurance Agency&#8217;s website or send it by mail.
