The most common entitlement is 2.08 vacation days per month, with a total of 25 days per year. If you\u2019re newly employed or work part-time, it can be difficult to know exactly how many days you\u2019re entitled to and how they&#8217;re calculated each month. Here\u2019s a breakdown of how it works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-vacation-days-are-calculated\">How vacation days are calculated<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you start a <a href=\"https:\/\/kliently.se\/en\/services\/employment-contract\/\">new job<\/a>, you earn vacation days during what&#8217;s called an \u201cearning year.\u201d A vacation year always starts on April 1 and ends on March 31 the following year. During that period, you earn approximately&nbsp;<strong>2.08 paid vacation days per month<\/strong>&nbsp;if you work full-time, five days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, if you start working in July and continue through the rest of the earning year, you&#8217;ll earn 19 vacation days:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From July 1 to March 31, you will have worked 9 months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2.08 \u00d7 9 months = 18.72<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Round up 18.72 to 19 days \u2014 which is the number of paid vacation days you can take the following year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-amount-of-vacation-days-you-earn-per-month-if-you-work-part-time\">The amount of vacation days you earn per month if you work part-time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Annual Leave Act doesn\u2019t calculate by hours, only by working days per week. You\u2019re still entitled to 25 days of vacation leave, but the number of days is adjusted based on how many days a week you work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you work&nbsp;<strong>4 days a week<\/strong>, you get 80% of 25 days =&nbsp;<strong>20 vacation days<\/strong>&nbsp;per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you work&nbsp;<strong>3.5 days a week<\/strong>, that\u2019s 70% of 25 =&nbsp;<strong>17.5 days<\/strong>, which is rounded up to&nbsp;<strong>18 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can only take vacation in whole days and only on days you would normally have worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you haven\u2019t worked long enough to earn paid vacation days, you can still take&nbsp;<strong>unpaid vacation days<\/strong>. This simply means you have the right to time off, but you won\u2019t receive pay during your leave.
